Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called for an international investigation into the recent Pahalgam incident, proposing that experts from Europe, neighbouring countries, and even members of the UN Security Council be invited to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry, reported by Express Tribune News.
Speaking on the television program Center Stage, Asif backed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer for an impartial probe, insisting that Pakistan welcomes outside scrutiny. “Let the international community come and verify the truth behind Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims,” Asif urged, praising Sharif’s recent speech as thorough and fearless.
The Defence Minister suggested that nations like China, given its close ties and shared borders with both India and Pakistan, should play a key role. He also pointed to Britain’s historical responsibility in Kashmir, arguing that the UK, too, must be part of the investigation.
Turning his focus to India, Asif accused Modi of twisting the Pahalgam incident for political gain, especially with elections approaching. “Even the Indian people have lost faith in Modi,” he said, accusing him of fabricating stories similar to the Pulwama incident and inciting hatred against minorities like Sikhs and Christians for votes.
Asif further alleged that India’s actions have spilled beyond its borders, exporting terrorism to countries like Canada and the United States.
Ending his remarks with a firm warning, Asif declared that Pakistan stands fully ready to defend its sovereignty. “We are not just 100 percent but 200 percent ready to defend every inch of our land,” he said. “While we seek peace, any act of aggression will be answered with strength.”
