GAZA: The Gaza government media office reports that 736 humanitarian relief workers have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, as the conflict continues to escalate.
In a statement, the media office accused Israel of aiming to create “chaos and insecurity” in Gaza by targeting aid workers. “The shocking rise in the number of aid personnel martyred highlights the extent of the crimes perpetrated by the occupation, targeting those who strive to provide assistance and relief to our afflicted people,” the statement said.
The violence stems from the aftermath of Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Since then, Israel has carried out an invasion of Gaza, which has now lasted over 14 months.
Key Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, were reported killed in targeted attacks, with Haniyeh assassinated in Tehran and Sinwar in southern Gaza. Additionally, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and his likely successor were assassinated.
Israel has indicated its goal to establish buffer zones within Gaza, maintaining its offensive momentum. Meanwhile, a ceasefire in Lebanon reached two months into the invasion was violated shortly after its declaration.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, as well as Hamas leader Mohammed Deif, marking a critical legal turn in the ongoing conflict.
