Youth Voices Rise: Islamabad Students Champion Kashmir’s Freedom Struggle

The corridors of Islamabad’s Institute of Home Economics echoed with impassioned voices on Tuesday as students from across the capital gathered to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, transforming academic fervor into political activism, according to APP.

More than ten colleges participated in the “Muqadama-e-Kashmir” theatrical competition, organized by the Kashmir Youth Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education. The event wasn’t merely ceremonial, it was a vivid reminder of Pakistan’s enduring commitment to Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

The day commenced with a solidarity march, where hundreds of students walked together, their chants reverberating through the streets. Banners held high, they proclaimed unity with their Kashmiri counterparts living under occupation, their youthful energy breathing new life into a decades-old struggle.

Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz addressed the crowd with conviction. “Kashmir unites all Pakistanis. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their legitimate fight for freedom,” she declared, emphasizing that this transcends politics, it’s a humanitarian imperative.

The most poignant moment came when Mishaal Malik, wife of imprisoned Kashmiri leader Yaseen Malik, took the stage. Her words carried the weight of personal sacrifice. “My husband’s struggle and the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people strengthen our resolve to support their just cause,” she said, her voice steady despite the emotion beneath.

Malik reserved special praise for Generation Z, calling them a “formidable force of change.” Drawing parallels with youth movements in Bangladesh and Palestine, she highlighted how young voices worldwide are reshaping resistance. “Gen Z is bold, informed, and unafraid. Their activism has reignited global attention toward Kashmir,” she emphasized.

Dr. Maqsood Jafri, a Kashmir affairs expert, described the movement as embodying courage and perseverance. “It’s our collective responsibility to amplify their voice globally,” he urged.

IMCB H-9 claimed first place in the competition, with IHE F-11/1 and IMCG Humak following. The evening concluded with a powerful tableau depicting Kashmir’s harsh realities suffering met with resilience. The performance left many in tears, a stark reminder that beyond slogans and solidarity walks lies a people whose struggle continues unabated.
