According to TOLOnews agency, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is striving to establish diplomatic relations and gain international recognition. Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated that the caretaker government plans to take concrete steps this solar year to strengthen its ties with the world.
Despite ongoing efforts, Mujahid admitted that it remains uncertain whether global powers will formally recognize the Islamic Emirate in the coming months. He also underscored the crucial role of the United Nations in bridging the gap between Afghanistan and the international community, urging the UN to take active measures in restoring diplomatic relations.
“The United Nations should play a more effective role in valuing Afghanistan’s position. This nation is significant on the global stage, and the rights of its people should not be overlooked,” Mujahid remarked.
Political analysts suggest that for Afghanistan to achieve recognition, the Islamic Emirate must address key concerns raised by the international community. They emphasize the importance of forming an inclusive government, respecting human rights—particularly those of women and girls—promoting national dialogue, and taking a firm stance against terrorism and drug trafficking.
“It is unfortunate that the world has taken no steps in the past three and a half years. The lack of recognition has created challenges for the Afghan people,” said political analyst Abdul Sadeq Hamidzoy. Another expert, Sayed Ebadullah Sadeq, highlighted that recognition follows a formal process guided by international standards, with the UN playing a crucial role in assisting developing nations.
Although the Islamic Emirate has established diplomatic relations with countries such as Iran, China, Turkey, Qatar, and Uzbekistan, no nation has officially recognized its government. As Afghanistan continues its quest for legitimacy, the road to global acceptance remains uncertain.
