WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump issued a dramatic “last warning” to Hamas on Sunday, urging the militant group to accept a ceasefire proposal he says Israel has already agreed to, in a bid to end the devastating war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! This is my last warning. There will not be another one.” The message comes amid growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the fate of dozens of civilians still held by Hamas.
The ceasefire proposal, reportedly delivered to Hamas by U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff, reportedly promises an end to Israel’s military operations in exchange for the immediate release of all hostages. Israel, in turn, would release up to 3,000 Palestinian prisoners.
Currently, 48 hostages remain in Gaza, but only about 20 are believed to be alive. The proposal, if accepted, could finally bring relief to families who have endured nearly two years of anguish since the October 2023 attack that sparked the conflict.
Trump has previously issued similar ultimatums — including a “last warning” in March — but Sunday’s statement carries heightened urgency, placing public pressure squarely on Hamas.
The announcement comes at a critical moment as international mediators, regional leaders, and the United States push to negotiate a ceasefire, while Israel’s military operations continue unabated. The world watches closely, hoping that a fragile agreement might finally bring hostages home and bring the region one step closer to peace.
