DOHA — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Qatar’s capital, Doha, on Monday for high-level talks aimed at supporting diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between Iran, the United States, and regional powers, according to Mehr News Agency.
According to Iranian media reports, the visit focuses on ongoing discussions surrounding a possible agreement that could help end the current conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Officials say the meetings will include consultations with senior Qatari leaders on several political and economic issues connected to the negotiations.
The diplomatic trip comes during a period of heightened regional uncertainty and follows weeks of international efforts to prevent further escalation. Iranian officials described the Doha meetings as part of a broader diplomatic process that has continued in recent weeks, with Pakistan also reportedly playing a mediating role in encouraging dialogue between the parties involved.
During the visit, Iranian representatives are expected to discuss possible pathways toward reducing military tensions and opening space for future negotiations. The delegation is also expected to explore financial matters linked to any potential agreement.
Iran’s Central Bank Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati is part of the delegation and is expected to hold discussions concerning frozen Iranian assets that could be released under a future deal. The issue of frozen funds has long remained a major point in negotiations between Tehran and Western countries.
Qatar, which has often served as a regional mediator in sensitive diplomatic disputes, is once again playing a key role in facilitating communication between different sides. While no official agreement has yet been announced, the meetings in Doha are being closely watched as another important step in ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further conflict in the region.
