According to The News web desk, the United States has strategically moved nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia, a military base on an Indian Ocean island, positioning them within striking range of Yemen and Iran.

This decision, made by US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, aims to reinforce American naval forces in the Middle East as tensions escalate in the region. While the Pentagon’s official statement did not specify the aircraft involved, anonymous US officials revealed that at least four B-2 bombers have been relocated to the base, which experts confirm is close enough to launch potential strikes.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell emphasized America’s commitment to regional stability, stating, “The United States and its partners stand resolute in ensuring security within CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. We are prepared to counter any threat posed by state or non-state actors seeking to escalate conflict.”

Secretary Hegseth also reaffirmed that the US will take decisive action to safeguard its interests and personnel should Iran or its proxies attempt any hostile maneuvers.

CENTCOM, the US Central Command, oversees operations spanning from Northeast Africa to the Middle East and South Asia. The B-2 bombers, renowned for their stealth capabilities and nuclear payload potential, are among the most elite aircraft in the US Air Force, typically reserved for critical missions.

In October, the Biden administration deployed these bombers in strikes against Yemen’s Houthi forces, marking their significant role in ongoing military strategies.
