According to NDTV news report, tech billionaire and Trump ally Elon Musk has stirred controversy by promoting a cash giveaway for Wisconsin voters ahead of the state’s crucial Supreme Court elections.
Musk reposted a petition on his social media platform X, urging Wisconsin voters to sign by April 1 in opposition to “activist judges.” America PAC, a pro-Trump political group largely funded by Musk, has promised $100 to registered voters who sign the petition and another $100 for each referral.
The PAC is backing conservative candidate Brad Schimel, who is running against Democrat-supported Susan Crawford for a key seat in Wisconsin’s top court. “Judges should interpret laws as written, not rewrite them for political agendas,” the PAC stated.
Musk’s involvement has raised concerns, with Crawford’s campaign accusing him of trying to “buy a seat” on the Supreme Court. Tesla, Musk’s electric car company, is currently challenging Wisconsin’s ban on automakers owning dealerships, a case that could reach the state’s highest court.
This isn’t the first time Musk has funded political incentives. During the 2024 presidential race, America PAC launched a daily $1 million lottery for petition signers in battleground states. The Justice Department had previously warned that such actions might violate federal law.
The election comes amid growing tensions over judicial independence, as Trump recently called for the impeachment of a federal judge who blocked his deportation policies. With Wisconsin playing a key role in US politics, Musk’s financial influence in the race has sparked heated debate.
