The United States will use military, economic and diplomatic measures to bring its conflict with Iran to an end, Vice President JD Vance said in a Fox News interview on Wednesday. He said Washington remained determined to secure what it considers the right outcome for the American people and President Donald Trump, according to Anadolu.
Vance described Iran’s political system as deeply divided. According to him, some Iranian officials want the fighting to stop, while hard-line figures are pushing for the conflict to continue. He acknowledged that finding a path through those divisions would be difficult.
“It’s going to be messy and it’s going to take some time,” Vance said, while expressing confidence that an agreement could eventually be reached. He also predicted that oil prices would fall and remain lower once the conflict was settled.
Vance insisted that Iran would never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. He said the United States would emerge from the crisis in a stronger position, whether through negotiations or continued pressure.
His comments came as tensions grew around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies, following renewed military confrontations between Washington and Tehran.
Trump said he would prefer a diplomatic agreement because he did not want more people to die. However, he warned that military action remained possible if negotiations failed.
The two sides signed a framework agreement on June 18 and began talks on a final settlement. The negotiations later stalled over security guarantees and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Last month, the conflict intensified when the United States carried out strikes inside Iran. Tehran responded by targeting what it called US military facilities and equipment in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait.
