Vienna — After recovering from back surgery, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker has returned to public life with a renewed message of hope and perseverance, urging citizens to stay united through uncertain times.
In a new campaign titled “Voices for Recovery” (Stimmen für den Aufschwung), the Federal Chancellery highlights stories of ordinary Austrians entrepreneurs, nurses, teachers, and innovators whose determination reflects the nation’s quiet resilience. Each short film in the series captures a personal journey, underscoring Stocker’s belief that Austria’s renewal begins with its people.
“Many feel that prospects are fading and insecurity is spreading, whether at work, while shopping, or when looking ahead,” the chancellor said in a video message. “But we must never lose courage or faith in our society and our country.”
Stocker, who was discharged from the hospital last week following spinal surgery, used his return to emphasize optimism as a political and moral necessity. “Austria has faced hardship before and always emerged stronger,” he said. “We can achieve great things again if we all work together.”
The campaign aims to restore confidence in a nation grappling with inflation, political fatigue, and growing polarization. By focusing on individual voices rather than party slogans, Stocker’s office hopes to shift public attention from crisis to collaboration.
New videos will be released weekly, each offering a glimpse into how everyday citizens contribute to Austria’s shared future.
“There are countless reasons to look ahead with confidence,” Stocker concluded. “Because every day, people across this country are giving their ideas, their energy, and their vision to make Austria thrive again.”
