Pakistan’s security forces have killed at least 15 suspected TTP militants in two intelligence based operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to The Nation.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was carried out in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, where security forces launched an intelligence driven action following reports of militant presence. During the engagement, troops successfully targeted the hideout, killing ten militants, including their alleged ringleader Alam Mehsud.
In a separate operation conducted in Datta Khel, North Waziristan, security forces neutralized five more militants, ISPR said.
Following both operations, sanitization efforts are underway to clear the surrounding areas of any remaining threats. ISPR stated that these actions are part of the ongoing counter terrorism campaign under ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, aimed at eliminating foreign sponsored militancy in the country.
This comes just weeks after another major operation on October 24, when Pakistan’s security forces killed eight TTP militants and injured five others in Lakki Marwat’s Wanda Sheikh Allah area. According to security officials, that operation was executed with “high military precision,” leaving the militants with no route to escape.
