Iran Rejects US Proposals, Cites “Unrealistic Demands”

Iran has said that major differences still remain in its negotiations with the United States, despite a newly proposed text from Washington that includes some changes, according to Tasnim News Agency.

According to a source close to Iran’s negotiating team, the gaps are rooted in what Tehran sees as excessive demands and unrealistic expectations from the American side. The source, speaking to Tasnim News Agency, stressed that Iran will not compromise on what it calls its “principled positions,” especially regarding the end of the recent conflict involving the US and Israel.

One of Iran’s key demands is the return of its frozen financial assets. The source said these funds must be restored fully and transparently, adding that written promises alone are not enough. Differences remain over how and when these assets would be returned.

The issue of compensation has also emerged as a major point of disagreement. Iran is seeking damages for what it describes as US military aggression. While the US has proposed creating a development and reconstruction fund, the source said the offer falls short of Iran’s expectations, both in size and structure.

Tensions are further complicated by disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program. The source dismissed US demands in this area as political in nature and said they violate Iran’s rights. According to Tehran, linking nuclear issues to negotiations about ending the conflict is unacceptable.

“Iran will not agree to end the war in exchange for nuclear commitments,” the source said, emphasizing that the two issues should remain separate.

The source also repeated Iran’s long standing position that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, describing such claims as misleading.

The latest remarks highlight the continuing challenges in reaching an agreement, as both sides remain far apart on key political, financial, and security issues.
