Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, delivered a strong message of both cooperation and warning during a graduation ceremony at the National Defense University in Kabul, according to TOLOnews. Addressing new military graduates, he stressed that Afghanistan seeks positive engagement with all countries but will firmly defend its independence and security.
Baradar said Afghanistan believes in regional and global partnerships based on mutual respect and economic cooperation. “We are committed to appropriate engagement with all countries within the framework of our principles,” he said. “For lasting political and economic stability, nations must respect each other’s values and sensitive boundaries.”
He also assured that Afghanistan’s territory remains secure and protected. Emphasizing a peaceful approach, Baradar stated that Afghanistan does not wish harm upon any country and expects the same goodwill in return. However, he warned that any hostile actions would be met with swift resistance.
“Afghanistan is not a sweet morsel for its enemies,” he said. “History proves that this land has defeated powerful empires, and those who challenge it will find only bitterness.” His words echoed Afghanistan’s long history of resistance and struggle against foreign interference.
Several other senior officials also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of national unity, sovereignty, and political independence. The Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs, Noorullah Noori, said Afghanistan would never allow foreign military bases or external control. “True independence means standing on our own feet,” he said, adding that national dignity must never be compromised.
The Minister of Higher Education and other leaders called for unity among the people, strict adherence to national laws, and protection of the country’s current political system. They emphasized that peace, stability, and development depend on internal solidarity and responsible leadership.
The ceremony, marking the graduation of the 17th group of defense university students, symbolized Afghanistan’s determination to strengthen its institutions while seeking constructive relations abroad. As the nation faces ongoing economic challenges and regional tensions, leaders stressed that cooperation, security, and independence will remain central to Afghanistan’s path forward.
