Netanyahu Video Sparks Fresh AI Debate as Ring Appears to Vanish
A new video shared by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has triggered fresh debate online after viewers noticed a strange detail: a ring on his finger appears to disappear as he moves his arm, according to NDTV.
The video was posted on Netanyahu’s official X account and shows him walking outdoors in Jerusalem while casually interacting with civilians. But some social media users quickly questioned the clip’s authenticity, pointing to the moment when the ring seems to vanish.
“Why does Netanyahu’s ring disappear as he moves his arm? Is this also AI?” one user wrote, reflecting a wave of speculation online.
The footage appeared as rumors about Netanyahu’s death continued to circulate across social media platforms. Those claims spread rapidly during the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran. The fighting began after joint US‑Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, followed by Iranian retaliation that has widened tensions across the Gulf region.
The newly released video appears intended to counter those rumors by showing the Israeli leader casually moving around in public.
In the clip, Netanyahu is seen chatting with people nearby. At one point he notices a dog and asks its owner about it.
“Whose dog is this? What breed?” Netanyahu asks.
“Canaanite-Israeli,” the woman replies.
“Canaanite-Israeli, well done,” Netanyahu responds. He then adds that it is good for people to get outside for some fresh air.
The conversation continues in a relaxed tone, even as the region remains under the shadow of war.
Questions about the authenticity of videos featuring Netanyahu began circulating last week after another clip from a press conference appeared to show the prime minister with six fingers on one hand. That moment quickly fueled claims online that artificial intelligence may have been used to generate or alter the footage.
Netanyahu has openly mocked those rumors. In a video posted Sunday, he was seen ordering coffee at a café in Jerusalem while joking about the claims.
“I am dead… for coffee,” he said with a smile.
He then raised both hands toward the camera and spread his fingers.
“Do you want to count my fingers? You can see them here… and here,” he said.
Despite the lighthearted response, questions about digital manipulation and AI-generated media continue to grow, especially as global tensions and the ongoing war with Iran enter their third week.
