Kashmir Tense as Fierce Encounter Erupts in Kathua

Kathua, March 23: A fierce gunbattle is underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district after security forces intercepted a fresh group of infiltrators near the International Border in Hiranagar.

The encounter began in Sanyal village when security forces launched a search operation following specific intelligence about the presence of suspected terrorists. As the forces closed in on the location, the terrorists opened fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area, and intermittent firing is ongoing.

Jammu has witnessed a series of infiltrations recently. On March 17, security forces killed a Pakistani terrorist in an encounter in Kupwara. Additionally, terrorists recently killed three innocent civilians in Kathua, including a 14-year-old boy.

The situation remains tense, and security forces are on high alert as the operation continues. Further details are awaited.
