Iran says it has a sweeping retaliatory plan already in place, one that could reach deep into Israel’s critical infrastructure and American energy installations across the region. The warning came from a senior Iranian security official, who dismissed recent U.S. media reports of possible strikes on Iranian soil as nothing short of reckless.
Speaking to reporters, the official said Tehran has drawn up an extensive response strategy for what he called potential American aggression, one that spares neither Israeli infrastructure nor U.S. energy assets stationed nearby. Iran, he insisted, stands fully prepared to act.
He pointed to recent history as proof of intent. Over the course of a 40-day conflict and in the weeks since Iran’s armed forces have shown both the capability and the resolve to follow through on such threats, he said.
The comments land against a tense and volatile backdrop. For weeks, Iranian and American forces have traded blows across the region, with Iran targeting U.S. bases and Washington’s forces striking back on Iranian territory. Adding to the strain, Iran has shut down the Strait of Hormuz entirely, a critical artery for global shipping, and says it won’t reopen the waterway until U.S. military involvement in the region comes to an end.
What began as scattered skirmishes has hardened into something closer to open confrontation, one where each side now speaks openly of what it’s willing to destroy, and neither seems ready to blink first.
