India Eyes Maritime and Space Cooperation with UAE to Deepen Strategic Ties
India is looking to chart new frontiers in its partnership with the United Arab Emirates, with fresh discussions on maritime and space cooperation signaling a deepening of strategic ties, according to Arab News.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, who visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai last week, said the talks explored “new frontiers for investment and collaboration” as both countries seek to broaden the scope of their relationship beyond trade.
During his two-day visit, Goyal co-chaired the UAE-India Business Council Roundtable alongside UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani Al-Zeyoudi. He also joined Sheikh Hamed Al-Nahyan, managing director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, to lead the 13th India-UAE High Level Task Force on Investments.
“Our meetings focused on expanding collaboration in diverse sectors and new investment opportunities,” Goyal wrote on social media, adding that the two nations’ shared commitment to growth is paving the way for “deeper engagement, larger investments and greater business opportunities.”
The areas under review include maritime infrastructure, space exploration, artificial intelligence, energy security, and next-generation infrastructure—sectors both sides consider crucial for long-term resilience.
India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been positioning itself as an emerging space power, achieving a significant milestone in January when it became only the fourth country to conduct a successful in-orbit docking.
