Militant associate arrested along with arms, ammo in JK’s Poonch: Police

Poonch: A militant associate was arrested along with arms and ammunition in Mendhar area of Poonch district on Sunday evening, police said.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said a joint cordon and search operation was launched by police and Army in Salwa and Behra area of Mendhar.
He said during the search operation one person namely Tayab Khan son of Mohd Khalil Khan of Salwa, a militant associate, was coming from the forest area and was asked to stop but he tried to run away.

He said he, however, was apprehended and during his search, one pistol and eight rounds were recovered from his possession.
“In this regard, a case in FIR 298/2022 under sections 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 18/23 UAPA Act, 120/121/122 IPC has been registered in police station Mendhar and investigation has been taken up,” it reads.
