Srinagar: For a change, wazwan will now tease the tastebuds of visitors at the 51st Rose Festival in Chandigarh.
The fest is all set to take off on February 17. It will continue till February 19 at Zakir Rose Garden, Chandigarh.
Organizers have chosen Kashmiri Wazwan as one of the prime food stalls in the festival to satisfy the appetite of the foodies attending the event.
Commissioner, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Anindita Mitra told The Kashmir Monitor that the basic idea is to showcase Kashmiri culture to the people of Chandigarh and the rest of the country.
“Apart from 831 varieties of roses, we have kept food stalls of different states in the festival.
We want our citizens to have a 360-degree experience in the Rose Festival so that they can come and experience different foods during the festival,” she said.
Mitra said that Kashmiri cuisines, which are famous across India, are also included in a theme-based food stall at the venue.
“People can visit the state-theme-based food courts. Kashmiri food court has also been bedecked where visitors can experience various authentic cuisines of the valley,” she said.
The festival will be inaugurated by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit. The ceremony will commence with the beating of drums, playing of bands, and folk dance performances by different states, along with regional art forms and flower arrangements.
During the last three years, the festival was affected by COVID-19. This year the administration has included various segments to enthrall visitors from different states of India.
Like locals, Kashmir businessmen and students residing in Chandigarh are equally curious about the festival.
“We have many restaurants in Punjab which serve Kashmir Wazwan. But this will be entirely a different experience relishing this delicacy in the Rose Festival. We are eagerly waiting to attend the event tomorrow,” said Mohammad Shahid Malik, an engineering student from Baramulla, who is currently putting up in Chandigarh.__The Kashmir Monitor
