The Israeli army says it carried out a “precision strike” on Beirut, targeting a Hezbollah commander, Mushin Shukr. His fate is so-far unconfirmed, but Hezbollah sources say that he survived the attack.
The army said that this was retaliation for an attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday that killed 12 children and teenagers.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said that two floors of a building in Haret Hreik, a suburb to the south of Beirut and a known stronghold of Hezbollah, have collapsed, and that one person was killed and others wounded.
Lebanon PM condemns ‘blatant Israeli aggression’ on Beirut
Lebanon’s PM has denounced the Israeli strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, days after Israel vowed to retaliate over deadly rocket fire from Lebanon on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Najib Mikati “condemned the blatant Israeli aggression on the southern suburbs of Beirut”, the premier’s office said in a statement, describing it as a “criminal act” in a “series of aggressive operations killing civilians in clear and explicit violation of international law”.__Al Jazeera
