ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris and their Pakistani brethren Saturday observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir with reiterating the resolve to free Kashmir from illegal Indian occupation in violation of international norms and United Nations resolutions and conventions.

A rally was held on the Constitution Avenue in connection with Youm-e-Istehsaal-e-Kashmir on Saturday to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris and condemn the Indian illegal steps of 5th August in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The rally led by Prime Minister’s Adviser on Kashmir Affairs, Qamar Zaman Kaira, started from Radio Pakistan Chowk and culminated at D-Chowk.

The Secretary Foreign Affairs, the leadership of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter and people belonging to different walks of life participated in the rally.

The participants raised high-pitched slogans in support of Pakistan and the Kashmiri people. They were also carrying banners bearing slogans in support of Kashmiri people and against the Indian oppression in IIOJK.

Speaking to the participants of the rally at D-Chowk, Qamar Zaman Kaira paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of Kashmiri people. He said the Indian occupation forces have been committing oppression and atrocities in the occupied territory over the last seventy five years but they have failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ resolve for their right to self-determination.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s abiding commitment to the Kashmir cause and urged the international community to fulfil the promises made with the Kashmiri people for right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Dialogue Development and Diplomatic Studies in Islamabad organized a roundtable conference in connection with the Youme Istehsaal Kashmir.

The Modi regime repealed the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and imposed an unprecedented military siege in the territory on this day in 2019.

In the conference, Dr Tughral Yameen, Dr. Waleed Rasool and Dr. Ashraf Wani, besides the senior editors of print and electronic media, briefed the delegation of Occupied Kashmir Journalists Association from occupied Kashmir about the nefarious Indian plans and ambitions.

They said India’s expansionist ambitions in the occupied territory are a serious threat to the peace and stability of the entire region, so the people associated with the media should play their due role in preventing Indian plans and ambitions and expose India to the whole world.

They said after August 5, 2019, India not only suppressed the freedom of the media in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, but also arrested several journalists for writing the truth. It is necessary to highlight the current serious situation of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, they added.

They said India makes fabricated and baseless propaganda about the situation of the occupied territory and its narrative in this regard is nothing but a lie. Compared to this, there are great and eternal sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and it is important to make the international community aware of these sacrifices, they maintained.

They said there has been no change in Pakistan’s position regarding the Kashmir dispute and no government of Pakistan can ignore it. They said the editors-in-chief of Azad Jammu and Kashmir newspapers and anchors and producers working in media houses have expressed their commitment to ensure the freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their institutions by presenting the Kashmir dispute in its true context.

They also strongly condemned the illegal and repressive measures imposed by India on the media in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and heinous actions like blackout.

Dr Tughral Yameen, Dr. Waleed Rasool and Dr. Ashraf Wani said India is committing the worst kind of human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir but it can never suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement because the morale of the Kashmiri people is high and they would take it to its logical conclusion at all costs.__Pakistan Today
