HUNZA: On non-payment of land compensation acquired for the expansion of Karakoram Highway Awami Workers Party along with the families affected people started a “Long March” from the border town of Sost on 2nd April, in Gojal Valley, Hunza.
Karakoram Highway which connects Pakistan to china and main project rout of CPEC (China Pakiatan Economic Corridor).
During the expansion of KKH National Highway Authority NHA used public land due to which many house, shops, commercial and agricultural land of People of Gilgit and Hunza was forcibly acquired against the wish and will of their owners.
Gilgit Baltistan is the gateway of CPEC and connecting Pakistan to China but no share has been allocated to GB in this mega protect, and even government of Pakistan is not compensating the effected people.
The “Long March” is being organized to highlight various public issues, including non-payment of land compensation to the families affected by the expansion of Karakoram Highway.
The Long March will cover a distance of almost 55 miles, culminating in Aliabad, the headquarters of Hunza District.
