SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was detained on Monday after he tried to march towards Badami Bagh army base in Srinagar.
An eye witness said that Malik who had gone underground to evade arrest was detained at Budshah bridge after he took out a march towards Badami Bagh army base.
Reports said that Malik took out a march from Gaw Kadal along with his supporters, including women, and as soon as he reached Budshah bridge police swung into action.
“Police fired tear gas shells to foil the protest,” said a witness, adding that Malik was taken into custody.

On Saturday, seven civilians were killed after forces opened fire on protesters near a gunfight site in Sarnoo village of Pulwama. Three militants and a soldier were killed in the gunfight.
The killings have sparked protests and condemnations from politicians and the civil society.
Authorities have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar to foil the march.__GK News
