GILGIT: According to reports one militant commander has been killed and one police lost his life during an encounter last night. Forces have also arrested more than 30 suspects and trying to reach real culprits.
Chief Minister Giligit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez ur Rahman in his interview to national TV claimed he had ful support of local community and only few peoples in this area were against the females education.He added that Gilgit Baltsitan police and other law enforcement agencies were fully alert and doing their ful efforts to counter extremist groups. He was confident that the culprits will be brought to justice very soon.
Chief Minister said that due to CPEC Gilgit Baltistan is very sensitive and important area. Diamar has a special status due to proposed “Diamer Bhasha Dam” and there are many security challenges in this regard. He reiterate that Diamar District is connect with KPK province and it is very difficult to monitor cross movement. He said that GB govt using its best expertise to maintain law and order in that area.
Presently, more than 0.5 million local tourists are there in Gilgit Baltistan along with 25000 international tourists. Special measures have been taken for the security of the tourists.
It is very important ponit that among the 14 schools which militants have attacked only 3 were operational; rest of schools were underncostruction, according to GB Government, effected school will be repaired and after the arrangements of ful security classes will be resumed as soon as possible.
