SRINAGAR: Two days ago, militants had fired from an under barrel grenade launcher towards the residence of late Muhammad Subhan Bhat, former legislator of National Conference. The grenade also landed inside the compound of the house and exploded without causing any casualty.
Four CRPF troopers, a policeman and a pedestrian suffered splinter injuries in a grenade attack by militants at Khanbal Chowk in Anantnag town on Friday.
The militants tossed the grenade toward a team of CRPF troopers and policemen deployed in the area.
The injured CRPF troopers were identified as Ravinder Singh, Muhammad Siraj, Veer Singh and Vinod Kumar. The injured policeman was identified as Abdul Majeed of Larkipora-Dooru, Anantnag, and the injured civilian as Abdul Rashid of Tral. All the injured are being treated at sub-district hospital
GRENADE THROWN AT TRAL PDP MLA’S RESIDENCE
Suspected militants on Friday threw a grenade at the residence of ruling People’s Democratic Party’s MLA from Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, in Tral Old Market.
The grenade landed in the courtyard of his house but caused no casualty.
“At the time of attack I was fortunately in Srinagar but my family members were present in the house who survived the attack,” said Shah.
However, Awantipora superintendent of police Zahid Malik, said it was not clear whether it was a grenade attack.
“It can be a firecracker or petrol bomb,” he said.

MILITANTS FIRE AT CRPF VEHICLE IN PULWAMA
Suspected militants fired at a CRPF bunker vehicle in Pulwama town on Monday morning. However, there were no casualties in the incident.
Following the incident, the forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. It is the third such attack in the district in the last four days.
CRPF BUNKER AT BUDSHAH CHOWK ATTACKED
Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at the CRPF bunker housing 49 battalion at Budshah Chowk Srinagar this evening. However, no damage was reported in the attack, CRPF spokesman in Srinagar Sanjay Sharma said. Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit claimed responsibility for the attack.
